support, but it isn't as affordable as the U6H or as bright as the U8H, which makes it slightly less compelling even though it's still a very good TV. Despite achieving some success last year, the Chinese manufacturer has opted to ditch OLED for 2020, but claims its cheaper ULED technology is more than a match, particularly when it comes to contrast. Plus, with Freeview Play, you’ll have access to over 40,000 TV shows on-demand as well as over 700 box sets all subscription free. As we do with all TV reviews, we factory reset the Hisense U7HQ and then measured the picture presets to find which is the most accurate to the industry standards out-of-the-box so we can view content as it was mastered and intended to be seen.

Wisa Ready enables you to experience a loss free high quality audio stream with out the need for additional software. Unfortunately, like the Hisense U8/U8H, it's difficult to calibrate quickly, as small changes to some areas made others worse. Which means no content of less than 1080p resolution, and no listening to it in any kind of meaningful way.eArc) to give you the winning gaming formula, now available up to an awe-inspiring 100-inch screen size.

A trapezoidal protrusion under the bottom bezel holds the TV’s infrared sensor, far-field microphone array, mic mute switch, and four Google Assistant indicator LEDs. All the catch-up and streaming service apps worth having are available, and all in their highest-resolution formats - and you even get access to the ‘VIDAA Free’ streaming service, which has more worthwhile content available than you might imagine. The C3 has a much better picture quality due to its perfect contrast and the ability to display much deeper blacks, so it’s the better choice for a dark room. There are the usual technical limitations of LCD that show up when watching in a dim room, with blooming, especially in HDR, being a distraction, along with poor viewing angles and dirty screen effect impacting on the image performance. HDR also looks much better on the U7H due to its wider color gamut, much better color volume, higher HDR peak brightness, and better PQ EOTF tracking, so HDR content is more accurate, more vibrant and lifelike, and bright highlights pop much more than on the Samsung.Hisense has informed us that our unit doesn't perform to their expectations and that the TV is out-of-spec. The solid, tidy and full-featured remote control is well-appointed and features a handful of shortcut buttons to the main video services. It’s not in any way offensive, you understand, and it actually does quite decent work through the midrange - dialogue is distinct and detailed. Like the world's greatest critic, your TV will analyse the composition of each frame and adjust your brightness, resolution, colour settings, and more so that each scene looks perfect - and you don't have to do anything but sit back, relax, and let your smart TV take care of everything. But it’s boneless at the bottom of the frequency range and quite overtly rolled off at the opposite end - and as far as dynamic headroom goes, well, there’s next to none.

SDR TV and films look natural with nice colours and lifelike skin tones and decent motion, but there is some slight judder with 50Hz content, so using motion interpolation will likely be required for some users who are not as interested in accuracy. What’s more, coming with FreeSync technology and 120hz Ultra Motion, you’ll get less tearing and stuttering, so you can enjoy more of what you love. This high flicker frequency isn't noticeable to most people, but it can cause headaches if you're sensitive to flicker. In spite of paying attention and showing great sensitivity when providing the information, we can not guarantee 100% accuracy.

The U8H delivers much better picture quality, as it has a better local dimming feature with a Mini LED backlight. Edges lose just a little of their rigour, and detail levels take a hit too, but in broad terms the U7K remains a composed and enjoyable watch. If you regularly watch low-quality and low-resolution content, the Sony is much better for that due to its better processing capabilities. The Hisense is also much better when it comes to HDR due to its better color volume, wide color gamut, and better HDR peak brightness, so HDR content is more vibrant and lifelike, and bright highlights pop more than they do on the X75K.

Switch to standard-def content from the built-in tuner and the Hisense copes much better, largely because the higher frame rate of the signal requires less processing from the TV, and the motion smearing issue is almost gone. It would certainly make a good second TV within the home and if that fits with what you are looking for, the U7H is probably worth a consideration. Display the 65U7HQTUK on its stylish swivel stand, or if space is limited, you can mount it on the wall. There are a few interesting extras, including UEFA TV, alongside stalwarts such as Rakuten and Chili, but to fill those missing gaps you will need to purchase a media streamer and plug it into one of those four HDMI sockets. The picture is good enough but if possible i would like to get the best possible picture settings for the TV. Admittedly it doesn’t have Dolby Vision HDR, but it’s a gloriously accomplished TV to watch and not a chore to listen to either. Although it's pricier than the Hisense, an obvious competitor is the extremely capable Samsung S95C. Picture quality tests include broadcast 1080i high-definition TV, Freeview, Freeview HD, viewing angle and the stability of motion in fast action scenes.
